What Our Partners Say

The people we work with — travelers, companies and suppliers — tell it best. A few of their words, unedited.

Solid service overall. My advice for first-timers: set up WeChat, Alipay, Didi and Amap before you fly for payments and navigation, and sort out more than one VPN in advance, because they drop.

The tea ceremony was a lovely way to spend an afternoon. We tasted several teas and learned how each is made, and the hands-on brewing was the best part.

Our Hangzhou guide was the highlight for the whole group — a close-up look at how China's internet economy actually works, which none of us had seen before.
— Themed tour guestGermany
Professional from start to finish, whether full-service or online consulting. Everything was arranged before departure and looked after until the trip ended.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are the visa requirements for traveling to China?
It depends on your nationality and the purpose of your trip — a tourist or business visa may apply. Some passports qualify for visa-free entry, and specific regions offer visa-on-arrival. For groups of more than two people on our tours, we can also arrange a port visa at a reasonable cost.
Q: What are the latest Chinese visa policy and transit visa details?
China keeps widening visa-free access. Certain nationalities can enter without a visa, and transit visa exemption now covers up to 240 hours (10 days) for travelers from 54 countries passing through gateways such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Policies change often, so we confirm the current rules for your passport before booking.
Q: How can I prepare for the language barrier when traveling to China?
In major cities you'll find some English, but a few basic Mandarin phrases go a long way — as does a good translation app. On consulting-only trips we support you online, and on private tours our guides speak English or other major languages.
Q: How can I prepare for cultural shocks when traveling to China?
Expect some adjustment, even if you've traveled widely. Small things — payment apps, queues, personal space, food customs — take a day or two to click. Our pre-trip briefing covers the practical bits so you spend less energy on surprises.
Q: What are the recommended modes of transportation within China?
High-speed rail runs at 300–350 km/h and is comfortable, punctual and affordable. Domestic flights can be cheaper but delay more often. In big cities the subway is usually fastest; Didi is the safe ride-hailing option and has an English app. Shared bikes and e-bikes are handy for short hops via WeChat or Alipay.
Q: What should I know about Chinese cuisine?
Regional cooking here is far more varied than the Chinese food most visitors know from home. The eight major cuisines — Shandong, Sichuan, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Hunan and Anhui — differ in everything from spice to technique. Tell us your preferences and dietary needs and we'll build meals around them.
Q: How can I access the internet and use my phone in China?
We can arrange a local SIM or a portable Wi-Fi device. Google, Facebook and X aren't reachable without a VPN, so install a reliable one before you leave. Your own carrier may also sell a cross-border data bundle worth comparing.
Q: What are some unique cultural experiences to try in China?
Plenty — tea ceremonies, calligraphy and painting workshops, regional festivals, and traditional crafts such as tie-dye, enamel or shadow puppetry. We run many of these as hands-on sessions, not demonstrations.
Q: How far in advance should we plan and prepare?
Six to ten weeks is a comfortable window. For larger groups, or when you want a specific expert or company visit, book at least ten weeks ahead so we can lock in the people you want to meet.
Q: What are the common methods of payment for travel services in China?
Alipay and WeChat Pay are accepted almost everywhere. Visa, Mastercard and American Express work at hotels, large restaurants and major attractions. Cash in RMB is still useful in smaller towns and rural areas, so keep a little on hand.
Q: What benefits do Post-Tour Members receive?
Post-tour members get up to 10% off future trips, priority booking and early access to new tours, a dedicated contact, regular offers, and travel credit on every booking.
